For the final capstone project of my program, my team and I developed a business model canvas for a fast-acting, safe, and topical gel treatment for erectile dysfunction in men and female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD) symptoms in women. Over the course of a semester, we took an idea created by a PI at NC State University and tried to evaluate its potential to be brought to market

I led a team of 5 MMB graduate student consultants to provide Dr. Scholle at NC State University with research-driven recommendations as to whether or not to develop a PROTAC against viruses. Our approach combined patent, literature, market, and competitive intelligence with insightful analysis to provide actionable deliverables.

My team analyzed current market trends in bone tissue regeneration and 3D bioprinting for two principal investigators in the Comparative Medicine Institute at NC State. We delivered an executive summary with recommendations on how to commercialize their product.

A pair of researchers at NC State tasked my team with analyzing potential entry points in the oyster industry for their novel depuration technology. It was the most I have ever learned or cared about oysters but a fun experience nonetheless. I worked with an amazing group to conduct interviews and launch surveys.

I reviewed the current state of biological pesticides being used in crop protection. Biopesticides are an alternative to conventional pesticides that have far less damaging effects on the environment

I explored the challenges and opportunities facing the field of cell and gene therapy. Cell and gene therapies are on the cutting edge of genomics, immunology, human health, and oncology. These therapies involve introducing altered genes to a patient's cells in order to restore or grant normal gene functions.

In my Microbial Metabolic Regulation class we were required to analyze and review scholarly articles. I chose to read a paper about central carbon metabolism in Kuenenia stuttgartiensis.
I developed an experiment for expressing psiM genes from magic mushrooms in Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells. The goal of the experiment was to find a way to more economically produce psilocybin for therapeutic research.

I created an executive summary detailing the work I had done to identify and characterize a group of compounds for cancer therapeutics. The labs involved screening a list of HIT compounds for those with the ability to target and destroy breast cancer cells.
